About Me
Hey, I’m David!
Originally from Knoxville, TN, I started recording music in high school using some of my dad’s home studio gear. I loved the idea of making recordings, but I would listen to my favorite songs, then listen back to mine and wonder why it didn’t sound nearly as good.
I kept working at it all the way through college (where i got a BS in Electrical Engineering), and by 2016, I was producing projects for songwriters around Knoxville full time. That’s when I decided it was time to take my recording skills to the next level at the Blackbird Academy in Nashville. Three weeks into the move, everything changed. A distracted driver ran a red light, t-boned me while I was on my bike, and left me paralyzed from the waist down. I spent the next eight months in recovery, working every day to learn how to walk again on weak legs.
In 2017, I went back and finished the program. I got hands-on experience with professional gear in world class studios, and had the chance to meet and learn from some of the best producers and engineers in the world.
2018 was a crazy year. I moved to LA after Blackbird and married my now wife! I was on American Idol as an artist, we shared our story on the Ellen Show, and somewhere in the middle of it all I wrote a book and released an album called Lionheart. as an artist, as well as sharing our story on the
When I got to LA, I started leaning even deeper into producing for songwriters who wanted more texture and emotion in their music. We’d reference artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine, and Ryan Beatty, and for the first time I felt like I was making records I truly loved. It finally sounded like the kind of music I had always wanted to create.
Since then, I’ve helped artists create music that has reached 150M plus streams, and I’d love to help you do the same. I’m all about taking a song from a simple idea to a finished record, and helping you bring your sound to the next level.
